Two suspects in the Dansoman kidnapping case, Phillip Asiedu and Emmanuel Osei, have been remanded into police custody by an Accra Circuit Court to help the police in further investigations in the case.
The two, who made their first appearance in court on Wednesday, were charged with conspiracy to commit crime, stealing, unlawful kidnap of an 8-year-old and obtaining GH¢ 120,000 from Dr and Mrs Aduamoah by means of threat.
Their pleas were not been taken by the court.
Three other accomplices, two Ghanaian males and one Nigerian woman, are on the run.
The incident happened on June 15 at the Alpha Beta School in Dansoman when members of a gang kidnapped an eight-year-old girl from her school at Dansoman in Accra, and kept her for four days demanding a $300,000 ransom.
The kidnappers had to back-track on their initial demand for $300,000 and settle for GH¢25,000 because the parents said they could not afford it. The girl was not harmed.
The suspects were alleged to have gone to the pupil's school in a taxi to pick up the girl as if they were her parents, and drove off.
Soon after the kidnappers had left the school, the mother of the pupil went to the school to pick her, only to be told that some people had already taken her home.
The girl's parents had to part with the ransom before the rogues dropped her from a taxi; however, the father who picked her up, said he failed to pick ithe taxis registration number.
The case has been adjourned to July 9.
