Ghana to open mission in Iran next week

The Government of Ghana by next week will open a new foreign mission in Iran to serve the country's interest in that nation. This will bring the number of Ghanaian missions abroad to 53.
According to the Iranian Ambassador to Ghana, Voliallah Mohammadi, this would strengthened the ties between the two countries and also promote business transactions, especially in the tourism sector.
The Ambassador noted that every year over 300 Ghanaians visits Iran, whilst almost the same number of Iranians also visits Ghana. He hoped that with the opening of a new mission in Iran, the relationship between the two countries which he described as excellent will be reinforced.
Ambassador Voliallah Mohammadi disclosed this when he paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Tourism and Diasporan Relations, Oboshie Sai-Cofie, at her office in Accra.
The Iranian Ambassador extended an invitation to Ms Oboshie Sai-Cofie to visit Iran for the second international conference on tourism opportunities in Iran; and also to experience first hand what the Iranian tourism industry has to offer.
He also presented a DVD documentary about Iran.
Also at the Ministry of Tourism and Diasporan Relations to pay a separate courtesy call on the Minister was the Canadian Ambassodor, Darren Schemmer. He said Ghana has a lot to offer for investment in the tourism industry. He said he was impressed with the forts and castles in Ghana and pledged his country's support to the industry.
On her part, Oboshie Sai-Cofie, indicated Ghana’s preparedness to collaborate with the governments of Canada and Iran to improve the tourism industry in Ghana.
According the Minister, the tourism industry in these two countries are far advanced and the country has a lot to learn from them. She appealed to the two countries to help Ghana upgrade its tourism industry which has great prospects.
She praised Iran for the prowess of its artisans and heritage buildings, and Canada for its expertise in Eco-tourism.
