Tigo BlackBerry Bold luanched

Millicom Ghana Limited, operators of Tigo, in collaboration with Research In Motion Wednesday took its customers to the next level of good customer care by introducing unto the Ghanaian market the Tigo BlackBerry Bold smartphone.
The BlackBerry Bold smartphone supports tri-band HSDPA high-speed networks around the world and comes with integrated GPS and Wi-Fi, as well as a rich set of multimedia capabilities. Featuring lustrous black exterior, satin chrome finished frame and stylish leather-like backplate, the BlackBerry Bold smartphone is a symbol of accomplishment and aspiration.
Through its integrated GPS, the BlackBerry Bold smartphone can pinpoint its exact location, supporting BlackBerry Maps and other location-based applications and services. With its improved rendering capabilities, faster download speeds and ability to support simultaneous voice data, the BlackBerry Bold smartphone even allows users to navigate while on a call.
“We are proud and honoured to be the first carrier in Ghana to offer our customers the BlackBerry Bold smartphone with special package for our postpaid customers,” says Percy Grundy, General Manager of Millicom Ghana.
According to him, the Tigo brand has always been a pioneer in introducing new communication services and new attractive plans in Ghana. He explained that Tigo’s combination with RIM is the beginning of a long and intense partnership. “Tigo Ghana is not only launching the BlackBerry Bold device but especially the BlackBerry experience and functionalities. As we put a high value on our customers needs, all our communication will highlight the BlackBerry solution for what it can fully bring to them in their daily-lives,” adding, “BlackBerry Bold smartphone is more than a phone and that is our message to Ghanaians”.
Marlene Kiniffo, RIM Director for West Africa, said it’s a very exciting development to now be able to offer their award winning technology to the Ghanaian market. She said Tigo had made it clear to RIM that their key objective was to launch the BlackBerry Bold smartphone to demonstrate to their customers the full benefits it really brings. She pointed out that the BlackBerry solution is more than making a phone call, sending an email or capturing a video, it’s a tool for success. She indicated that RIM will continue to support Tigo Ghana in their everyday mission by bringing the latest products and services to the market.
Three people took home a BlackBerry Bold smartphone each in a draw after the launch.
