Anglican Priest urged Christians to live a life worthy of emulation
Rev Fr Abraham Elijah Quarshie, Parish Priest of the St Peter Anglican Church, Nungua, has indicated that the resurrection of Jesus Christ must encourage all Christians to live a life worthy of emulation that will bring unbelievers to Christ.
He said the message of Easter, which is selflessness, should also persuade and remind Christians to live up to their social responsibilities of sharing with the needy, poor and vulnerable in society.
Speaking in an interview with the Royal Mail after Easter Sunday service, Rev Fr Quarshie, pointed out that the resurrection of Christ brought peace, so all should continue to pray for world peace, especially that of Ghana.
To him, the heart of Christianity is the resurrection of Jesus Christ because “If Christ never rose from the dead then Christians are the most miserable of all people in that our hope will be in vain.”
He said when the glorious event of the resurrection took place, false explanation were given to confuse many that Jesus never rose from the dead. But scripture says that when Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb, the angel said to them ‘he is not here, he has risen, just as he said, come and see the place where he lay’.
Rev Fr Quarshie observed that on Easter morning Jesus rose from the dead and the promise was fulfilled. “Because I live, you will also live- John 14:19,” he cited.
He explained that since Christians resurrected with Jesus Christ, when you lose a loved one to death, the parting is only for a moment but reunion will last for all eternity.
“May the power of Christ resurrection strengthened all believers to go into the world to preach the good news that Christ has conquered death by rising from the grave and is alive forevermore,” he concluded.
