The Minister of Manpower Youth and Employment, Abubakar Sadiqque Boniface, has noted that the number of entrepreneurial enterprises springing up in the country indicates that President Kufuor's Golden Age of Business is not rhetoric but a reality.
He made this remark over the weekend at the official opening of DEE'S and D Investment Limited at Ashaley Botwe, a suburb of Accra.
DEE?S and D Investment Limited is the operator of SO ENERGY retail outlet and an ultra modern shopping complex at Ashaley Botwe.
Mr Boniface said Government has provided the right economic atmosphere, such as the reduction in inflation and the rate of lending by the banks, which hitherto was absent, to make doing business in Ghana more easy and comfortable.
He noted that through good governance coupled with the peaceful atmosphere prevailing in Ghana, a lot of businesses are now re-locating into the country everyday. "All these are a mark of good economic policies by Government", he added.
He said Government?s decision to de-regulate petroleum in the country is also paying off as it has brought about more efficiency and competition in the industry. He observed that customers now get good value for their money.
Mr Boniface urged Ghanaians abroad to re-locate their businesses back home to provide more employment opportunities for the teeming unemployed youth in the country, and thereby compliment Government?s efforts at addressing the problem of unemployment.
The Chief Executive Officer of DEE?S and D Investment Limited, Steven Larbie, expressed his appreciation to Government for creating an enabling environment for creating business which DEE?S and D Investment Limited has taken advantage of; he described it as a manifestation of Government?s desire to promote the private sector to become the engine of growth of the economy.
"By this venture we are looking forward to helping to move the fuel industry and other businesses forward and encourage other Ghanaians and investors in the Diaspora to invest in Ghana", he added.
He said DEE?S and D Investment Limited has a state of the art fuel service station with fuel pumps that give instant automatic printed receipt to the clients, thus enhancing customer satisfaction.
Mr Larbie disclosed that the company is currently in partnership with Sahara Oil, one of the biggest oil companies in Nigeria, to define retailing of fuel in Ghana.
The shopping mall is made up of a restaurant, boutique, and a terrace bar. He said an Ecobank Ezi ATM which provides 24 hours service has been installed on the premises to facilitate the easy withdrawal of cash.
He disclosed that the company hopes to introduce to the Ashaley Botwe community in due course an Office Practice Clinic and Pharmaceutical Centre to be manned by specialists to reduce the inconvenience of people from the community having to travel far to town to receive medical attention.
Also to be opened before Ghana?s 50th Anniversary celebration in March next year are specially designed back courts for live band music for relaxation and enjoyment with a pool table for pool lovers, executive suites for business and pleasure, a gym and a jazz club.G
